The course objective for Workplace Safety and Health Management in Chemical, Process, Pharmaceutical Industries and Laboratories known as Supervise Workplace Safety and Health in Process Plant (Oil and Petrochemical Industry Safety Course for Supervisors) is as follows.
By the end of the course, the participants would be able to gain required knowledge to ensure that the work which the person oversees or supervises can be carried out safely in the oil/Petrochemical Industry.
- Identify and comply with legislations and regulations relevant to oil / petrochemical industry when carrying out duties and responsibilities of a supervisor
- Identify safety and health hazards associated with the job or task
- Perform the roles and responsibilities of the supervisors to ensure workplace safety and health
- Conduct job safety analysis for a job or task
- Evaluate level of risks involved in identified hazards
- Identify control measures to minimize safety risks arising from hazards
- Identify types of hazards that are likely to occur in the workplace
- Identify gaps or shortfalls in workplace conditions and practices
- Identify the structure of Occupational Safety and Health Management System
- Recognize the core elements of Occupational Safety and Health Management System
- Identify circumstances that require PTW
- Determine types of PTW required
- Identify the Legal Requirements
- Analyze information and facts to determine root causes of incidents
- Have completed the relevant safety training for a process plant
- Be able to listen, read, speak and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills System (ESS) level 5
- Be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to ESS level 5.
The certificate and ID card that is issued to a successful participant for the course and assessment is valid for life long.
Based on the successful completion of the course and assessment, a certificate of achievement endorsed by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) will, will be awarded to the trainee.
- CE1. Comply with workplace safety and health legislations, guidelines and code of practice and provide inputs for risk assessment.
- CE2. Identify hazards and control measures.
- CE3: Comply with safety and health management system.
- CE4. Follow a permit-to-work system.
- CE5. Conduct safety and health inspection.
- CE6. Conduct incident investigation.
